New Mowgli

SANTIAGO - Jungle Book relives in Chili and particulary the boy Mowgli. A child that has been abondoned after his birth, succeeded in surviving for eleven year due to a pack of stray dogs. He was found in a cave where he had lived together with the dogs for all these years. A police spokesman said one of the bitches nourished the boy. After that he stayed alive by plundering trash cans for food together with the 15 dogs in the southern port Talcuano. "They were his family", the police spokesman said. When the dogchild, as the press named him, was discovered, he jumped into the ocean to escape the people. A policeman jumped after him to save him.

Nieuwe Mowgli

SANTIAGO - Junglebook herleeft in Chili, en dan met name het jongetje Mowgli. Een kind dat na zijn geboorte was verlaten, is er dankzij een groep zwerfhonden in geslaagd elf jaar in leven te blijven. Hij werd gevonden in een grot, waar hij al die tijd met de honden had geleefd. Volgens een politiewoordvoerder had een van de teefjes hem gezoogd. Daarna bleef hij in leven door samen met de vijftien honden voedsel te roven uit vuilnisbakken in de zuidelijke havenstad Talcuano. "Ze waren zijn familie", aldus de zegsman. Toen het hondenkind, zoals hij inmiddels door de pers is gedoopt, werd ontdekt, sprong hij in zee om aan de mensen te ontkomen. Een politieman sprong achter hem aan om het kind te redden.
